Dr. Moumita Das completed her Bachelors in Statistics from Presidency College , Kolkata (now Presidency University) (2005) and Masters in Statistics (M-Stat) from Indian Statistical Institute, Kolkata (2007). She completed her PhD in Statistics from Indian Statistical Institute, Kolkata (2019) as well. Before joining her Phd, she worked as a Business Analyst at Pricewaterhouse Coopers, India. She served as an Assistant professor at Statistics Department in Bethune College, Kolkata from September 2014 to March, 2018. She was a postdoc at National Brain Research Centre, Manesar and Basque Center for Applied Mathematics, Spain. Her research interests focuses on statistical methodologies with real life applications. In her dis-sertation, she had worked on Bayesian methodology, particularly Bayesian nonparametric modeling of spatio-temporal data and associated MCMC algorithm. She believes that in real life applications, Bayesian methodology provides a natural and principled way of incorporating prior information into the analysis. Being intrigued by the strength of Bayesian philosophy, she is interested in developing Bayesian statistical models and associated MCMC algorithms for analysing the real life data. In her postdoctoral research, she started to explore the field of Neuroscience. At present, she is trying to understand the complex dynamics of our Brain using advance statistical methods. The right balance of theoretical, computational and applied skills enables her to continue application driven and theoretically challenging research.
Research Interests: Bayesian Statistics, Bayesian Computation, Spatio-temporal modeling, Computational Neuroscience
